Advanced Hybrid Workout Labs

Frequently asked questions.

Who teaches the classes?

All classes are taught by Christinna Chauncey.

What level of experience is required to enroll?

This Hybrid Workout Lab is designed to supply a highly strategic & challenging “workout” environment for the advanced level actor who already has an at-home self-tape setup in place, is currently auditioning in film & television, has (ideally) secured theatrical agency representation and has completed one of our past intensive class offerings in which you already received instruction as to our studio’s unique approach to script analysis, camera tech, and other such principles for auditioning powerfully. This helps ensure that the class format will best serve you, will not slow down or distract from the forward movement of the work each night, and will promote you and everyone else in getting the most out of your investment. Getting admitted into the workout lab without having completed one of our intensives is possible but less common, and will be based upon your previous training, credits & your level of experience.

Are the classes held in-person or online?

Both. In the Hybrid Workout Lab, the majority of classes are held in-person at our studio in Los Angeles, with 1-2 select classes held online throughout the 2-month run. This is the first part of what makes it a hybrid class format, and ensures that the class will be as strategic as possible with regards to the current state of auditioning being utilized in the industry. The second part of what makes it a hybrid class format is our unique hybrid tech setup that allows the actor to attend class online via Zoom in the event that the actor can’t attend in-person on any given night due to either illness, travel, or other applicable circumstances. The lab also utilizes various configurations depending upon each particular lab’s objective, timing of the season, unique class “casting” dynamics, and shifts taking place within the industry - all of which ensures the lab remains as relevant as possible & immediately applicable to the current state of auditioning.

Will I get a video copy of my work in class?

When attending in-person, actors may bring a USB thumb drive for their workout in class to be recorded in real time. Your USB thumb drive must be identified or labeled with your initials, and properly formatted according instructions given prior to arriving to class. After class, you’ll take your USB thumb drive home with you so you can review your work on your own time. When attending online via Zoom actors will be allowed to record the meeting during their individual workout. Once your workout is complete, recording capabilities will be disabled by the moderator. Recording class content without the expressed permission of the studio is prohibited. When the workouts in class have completed for the night, video playback will be made available as an option for those who wish to remain and observe their work. If video playback is requested, staying after class to review the video playback is not required for everyone else, who are free to leave class - but observing your recorded work in class on your own time is highly encouraged. For those attending online, video playback of your work in class will not be available due to the fact that the Zoom recording of your work will not process until after the meeting has ended. You are therefore encouraged to watch playback of your work in class via your individual Zoom recording after the meeting has ended on your own time.

May I work my own material in class?

Material for all of our classes is assigned by the instructor with a lot of forethought and in a highly customized fashion per actor in order to not only target and expand your wheelhouse, but to maximize your overall experience in class. Periodically, however, in this Advanced Hybrid Workout Lab actors may request to substitute their own audition material. If the instructor determines that allowing such a substitution is compatible with the current lab configuration that is in play for the month, then the material must first fulfill the following strict parameters:

  • 1) A minimum 24 hours notice to the studio must be given to the instructor.

  • 2) Within their request, the actor must present a brief explanation of the scene and its storyline context to the instructor, who may not have time to read the scene or research the material prior to class.

  • 3) The material must be from contemporary or recent episodic television or film scripts.

  • 4) The material must be free of watermarks. Watermarked material will not be permitted unless the actor can prove that the material and its contents contained therein (dialogue, storyline) have already been exposed to the general public via a past airdate or past theatrical release. In other words, watermarked material that is currently being cast will not be permitted for use in class, and the same goes for material currently being cast in which there is a NDA attached, for obvious reasons. Any audition material currently being cast must be free of watermarks and not be under a NDA. This privacy policy is in place in order to ensure that the material will remain unexposed in order to protect the writers, the actor, the studio, and the production company currently casting the role. The studio will not risk liability for confidential or watermarked material being exposed either in our classes or publicly online by an actor posting clips of their work in class on social media.

  • If any of the above criteria are not met or are missing from the actor’s initial request, it will not be considered.

Finally, if the lab configuration allows for substituted material and the actor’s material meets the aforementioned criteria and is approved for use in class by the instructor, then the actor understands that they are simply substituting their material in place of the assigned material and that whatever format we are covering in that particular class will be the format they will adhere to with their own material. In other words, their workout time in class utilizing their own material will not be treated like a private coaching session. If the actor wants a full workout with extensive notes, guidance and personalized coaching on their material in preparation for their audition, they are advised to schedule a private coaching session at the studio.

What if I become ill or have to miss a class?

When our classes are held in-person, the health & safety of everyone is of utmost importance. So if you become ill (or even symptomatic), we expect that you would refrain from attending class, for obvious reasons. But with this Advanced Hybrid Workout Lab, you do not have to miss out. simply because you are unable to attend in-person. A unique feature of our hybrid tech setup is that it allows for you to still be able to attend class online and observe the work via Zoom in full HD with optimum sound if you are unable to attend in-person due to illness or any other reason. As long as you provide adequate notice, we can arrange for you to join us online alongside the rest of your classmates who are attending in-person.

Are there makeup classes?

No. If you miss class you do so at your own risk, and the studio assumes no responsibility whatsoever in providing a makeup class to you. As stated above, the best solution to not being able to attend in-person is to simply request (with sufficient notice) to attend, observe & participate (depending upon the work each night) online. That said, if another Advanced Hybrid Workout Lab is currently being held on an alternate night, then making up a missed class might be possible, but only per the instructor’s approval and only if the alternate lab is engaged in the exact same configuration as your lab. Making up a class in a lab engaged in a different configuration will not be possible as it would be disruptive to the alternate lab and its students. If a makeup class is approved for you, then that makeup class will be treated as a "sit-in only” or “audit only” unless a seat becomes available due to an actor’s absence, open seat, or if time permits, per the instructor's discretion. You may not make up the class once the current month’s cycle has ended. There is no penalty for missing class, however your full commitment to class is expected. So if you are already concerned about missing class at this point prior to registering and are not satisfied that makeup classes may not be extended, you may want to reconsider whether you want to enroll in the Hybrid Workout Lab, as it might not be the right fit for you.

May I enroll in only 1 out of the 2 months?

A 2-month advanced workout lab is what is being offered here, so actors who commit to the full 2 months are given priority enrollment. As with all of our course offerings, this workout lab is expected to book out with a wait list. However, in the event that does not happen and we have a seat available, or if an actor has to drop out, then the option of enrolling in only 1 month may possibly be extended.

I know I want in - can I enroll before registration opens?

The wait and expectancy for classes resuming at our studio has been long, and our interest list is very strong. Due to the limited number of seats and high demand, enrollment begins on the day of registration. If you already know you want in, you are encouraged to mark the date (and time) registration opens on your calendar and make sure you are among the first to apply. If you are new to this studio or are not yet on our Priority List (a list of actors who have already been pre-cleared for class), you are highly encouraged to apply now to get our on Priority List in order to get cleared - or click the button “Get on our List” at the bottom of this page. However, Priority List actors please note that because this is an advanced level workout class, admittance for you is still not guaranteed (pls refer to the answer provided to the 2nd question on this FAQs page regarding the prerequisite for the Hybrid Workout Labs).

What is the policy if I have to drop out of the lab?

The studio does not offer refunds, except for very rare and highly extenuating circumstances. So please do not register for class until you have vetted it fully and know for certain (and are excited!) to enroll. We do understand that life happens and circumstances can change. After submitting your deposit, there is a window of time that will allow for such unforseen circumstances. In this case, if your circumstances change to the extent that you are no longer able to fully commit to the class, we will first work to retain your deposit or a portion therein as credit towards the next course offering before considering a refund. The closer we get to the start date of class, the more you risk losing your deposit or a portion therein if you have to drop out. Once full tuition has been paid and the Hybrid Workout Lab has commenced and material has been prepared for you, if you choose to drop out of the lab you risk forfeiting your investment altogether. Depending upon your circumstances for withdrawal, the possibility of retaining class credit may be considered, but this is only under highly extenuating circumstances. Retaining class credit is not guaranteed and under no circumstances will class credit, when approved and extended, ever be applied towards private coaching services. No exceptions.

What are the payment options?

Our studio thrives on solid commitment, so your willingness to fully invest and commit upfront gets rewarded. You save us administrative time, we’ll save you some cash, at least enough to buy yourself a cup of coffee (or two). We also understand that times are challenging, so a payment plan (Option #3) is available with 0% interest for those needing to pay month-to-month.

Option 1 (Pay-in-full upfront with no deposit, save $10): Pay for and fully commit to the entire 2-month lab upfront $680.00 (no deposit) and we’ll shave $10 off the total cost. Enjoy your favorite Caramel Macchiato, Cappucino, or jazzed-up Latte or Chai Latte on us!

Option 2 (Pay-in-full with 50% deposit, save $5): Pay for and fully commit to the entire 2-month lab in 2 chunks with 50% paid as deposit ($340) and the remaining 50% balance ($340) paid 5 days prior to the first night of class and we’ll shave $5 off the total cost. Grab a Cafe Americano, Cold-Brew, Cup a’ Joe, or Tea on us.

Option 3 (Payment Plan, 0% interest): A minimum 50% deposit of $170 for Month #1 must be collected upon enrollment in order to secure your seat in class, with your remaining balance owed of $170 for Month #1 due 5 days prior to the start date of the lab. Then, by Week #3 a minimum 50% deposit ($170) must be received for Month #2, with your final balance owed ($170) for the lab due 3 days prior to the start of Month #2.
