Frequently asked questions.

Who teaches the classes?

All classes are taught by Christinna Chauncey.

What level of experience is required to enroll?

This class is designed for the intermediate-advanced level actor who is already auditioning in film & television, has an at-home self-tape setup in place, and (ideally) has secured theatrical agency representation. This class is not for the beginning level actor. If you are an actor with strong stage experience but no experience in TV/Film you are encouraged to first get your feet wet with the Film/TV audition process plus secure an at-home self-tape setup before applying to this class, in order for it to best serve you [if you don’t already have an at-home setup and you register for this class, you will need to have one in place by the 2nd half of this course.] The 8Wk Hybrid Intensive is primarily designed to serve actors enrolling in our studio for the first time but is also open to previous students desiring a refresher or ‘re-infusion’ of the essentials of our process.

Are the classes held in-person or online?

This is an in-person class, with 1 (possibly 2) classes held online. This is the first part of what makes it a hybrid class format, and ensures that the class will be as strategic as possible with regards to the current state of auditioning being utilized in the industry. The second part of what makes it a hybrid class format is our unique hybrid tech setup that allows the actor to attend class online via Zoom in the event that the actor can’t attend in-person on any given night due to either illness, travel, or other applicable circumstances.

Will I get a video copy of my work in class?

When attending in-person actors may bring a USB thumb drive for their workout in class to be recorded in real-time. Your USB thumb drive must be identified/labeled and properly formatted according instructions given prior to arriving to class. After class, you’ll take your USB thumb drive home with you so you can review your work on your own time. When the workouts in class have completed for the night, video playback will be made available as an option for those who wish to remain and observe their work. If video playback is requested, staying after class to review the video playback is not required for everyone else, who are free to leave class - but observing your recorded work in class either at the end of class or on your own time is highly encouraged. When attending class online via Zoom actors will either be allowed to record the meeting during their individual workout, or upon request may be provided a copy of their workout - depending upon the work & format of that particular online session.

May I work my own audition material in class?

No. Material for this course is assigned to you by the instructor with a lot of forethought and in a highly customized fashion per actor in order to maximize your experience and to drive home the points of technique that are critical to the course. This concentrated design is for your benefit and for the benefit of the rest of the actors in class. The only classes offered at the studio in which actors may possibly work on their own audition material (within very restricted parameters) is the Advanced Hybrid Workout Lab and the Online Workout Lab.

What if I become ill or have to miss a class?

As this is primarily an in-person class, the health & safety of everyone is of utmost importance. So if you become ill (or even symptomatic), we expect you to notify us immediately and refrain from attending class in-person, for obvious reasons, and request instead to attend online. A unique feature of our hybrid tech setup is that it allows for you to be able to still attend class online and observe via Zoom if you are unable to attend in-person due to illness, travel, or for any other reason. As long as you provide adequate notice, we can arrange for you to attend online. However, simply not showing up and expecting to attend online is prohibited/excluded.

Are there makeup classes?

No. Makeup classes for this course are not available. If you cannot attend in person, then you may simply request (with notice) to attend, observe & participate (depending upon the work each night) online. There is no penalty for missing class, however your full commitment to this class is expected. So if you are already concerned about missing class at this point prior to registering and are not satisfied that makeup classes are not available, you may want to reconsider whether you want to enroll in this 8-Wk Hybrid Power Intensive, as it may not be the right fit for you.

May I enroll in only part of the course?

No. This course is only being offered in its entirety and every class builds upon the previous class. Enrolling in select classes is not an option.

I want in - can I enroll before registration opens?

The wait and expectancy for classes resuming at our studio has been long, and our interest list is very strong. Due to the limited number of seats and high demand, enrollment begins on the day of registration. If you already know you want in, you are encouraged to mark the date (and time) registration opens on your calendar and make sure you are among the first to apply. If you’re new to this studio or are not yet on our Priority List (a list of actors who have submitted their materials and have already been pre-cleared for class), you are highly encouraged to apply to join our Priority List in order to get pre-cleared now (or you can just click the button “Get on our List” at the bottom of this page).
