Christinna Chauncey is one of the most sought after and in-demand private coaches and on-camera instructors in Los Angeles. With over 30 years of professional experience working both in front of the camera and behind the scenes in casting, she's become known as the coach who helps bridge the gap in perspectives between the actor and the power decision makers (casting director, writers, producers, director, studio, network) demystifying the process and giving actors the strategy, technique and confidence needed to turn auditions into bookings. Christinna's casting credits include the smash hit Reba, the Kevin-Williamson produced (Vampire Diaries, Scream, Dawson's Creek) 1-hour drama Glory Days, Loose Cannon (produced by Will Smith and starring Nick Cannon), and the half-hour comedy pilots In My Opinion, Trash, and SoDowntown.
Shortly following her time in casting, Christinna realized she had achieved massive breakthrough
in her own work as an actor when her callback & booking ratios suddenly began to skyrocket.
With a dramatically shifted perspective on the audition process, she knew that what she had tapped into was too good to keep to herself and so she decided to pay it forward and start a class. In
March of 2003 the 8-Week Intensive On-Camera Audition Workshop was launched with a curriculum specifically designed to help actors avoid critical mistakes in the room and gain confidence in front
of the casting director and producers. Due to the quick success of the workshop and demand of her actors to create an on-going format, Christinna added an advanced workout class, as well as power weekend courses. Her classes have continued to thrive ever since with actors reporting constant breakthroughs in their work as a result of her process. And today, the intensive courses consistently book out quickly with waitlists and the ongoing program has maintained a "full house" status every month with an active waitlist. Among the secrets to the incredible success of the studio is its unwavering commitment to small class size mixed with the highest level of relevant quality content combined with an intensely personal investment into each individual student's wheelhouse of bookability and bankability. "My business motto has always been and will continue to be 'quality over quantity'. I didn't set out to build a large acting studio, I simply wanted to help people. And because of this, I believe we continue to produce these kind of results. I will not compromise my individualized commitment to each actor."
A highly trained actor who studied extensively under the guidance of acclaimed acting teacher Larry Moss (who gained widespread recognition for coaching Helen Hunt and Hilary Swank in their Academy Award-winning performances in As Good As It Gets, Boys Don't Cry, and Million Dollar Baby), Christinna provides actors with an essential edge in a highly competitive industry, and she continually practices what she preaches. Recent credits include the independent film Elijah's Ashes which has racked up over 30 awards on the 2017 festival circuit, as well as guest star roles on NCIS, Private Practice, Melissa & Joey, and Men of a Certain Age, to name a few. "Working in casting forever altered my understanding of the audition process," she says. "My passion is to empower my fellow artists with this same insider perspective, in addition to a strong sense of craft and ownership, so they may achieve greatness in an industry that can often be intimidating and overwhelming."
